Show Openings

The Purpose of Group Games

Group Games are silly, often short-form-ish style improv scenes that utilize most or all of the troupe and are used to ‘cleanse the pallet’ from a more grounded upper-level show formats such as The Harold. They tend to not impact or alter the plotlines of the main show. They are kind of a commercial break from the main show.

Much like openings, there are an infinite number of them, and new ones can be invented. “Hey Alexa”, for example, was invented by one of our own students!

Group games and openings could be interchangeable. A troupe could utilize a Group Game as an opening and vice-versa.

You can use your First Scene as an opening. This is particularly great when the troupe has a limited amount of time.
